Clinician Investigator Program (CIP)

The Clinician Investigator Program (CIP) offered by the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta is intended for clinical residents who wish to pursue careers as clinical investigators. It is approved by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Any resident registered in a postgraduate program in the Faculty is eligible. Upon successful completion, the participant receives special certification from the Royal College.

CIP training includes

  1. Completion of a Royal College fellowship
  2. Completion of two years of research for a master's degree
  3. Seminar program and course providing research training and other required skills
