The Division of Medical Laboratory Science in the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta offers a versatile, four-year professional degree program in Medical Laboratory Science. The program is designed to provide a broad and well-rounded education to meet the demand in public and private labs for more highly qualified laboratory personnel. Students acquire both General Certification from the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS).
A pre-professional year at university is followed by three years in the Division of Medical Laboratory Science of the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry. These three years are called Phases I, II and III.
Phases I and III are university years. During Phase II, students spend the year rotating through clinical laboratories within the Edmonton area.
